About This Artist

Brand owner and designer, Nimmawadee Krainara, first became interested in art while she was growing up in Ubon Ratchathani province in Thailand. She continued to push her creative endeavors at the Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. After her graduation, she landed a job as a product designer at a ceramic company in Chiang Mai before relocating to Mae Fah Luang Foundation, a private non-profit organization established to improve the quality of lives of people under poverty.

While she was deeply involved with ceramics, her love for learning never stopped growing. Her passion for jewelry pushed her to sign up to several workshops with the intention to gain further knowledge. It wasn’t long before she felt confident enough to set up her own brand, named Nimmind. A true entrepreneur, as well as an artist, who loved to being involved in every process, from designing and manufacturing in the very initial stages all the way through to final stage. Her jewelry pieces are a unique expression of her artistic endeavor, forming creative ideas from pure inspirations. She pays more attention to the designs rather than the value of the sources as materials such as diamonds, gems or gold are less important to her. In fact, she works a lot with materials such as silver and brass, and is invested in the functionality of the design and how it’s being wrapped around the wearer’s body.

Her first collection of earrings, Freedom, featured a bird perched on a cloud where she sourced a combination of materials such as silver, plastic, and shells. Her latest collection, Wings of Liberty, is produced from rarely used materials for ornaments such as aluminum. She wanted to develop a motion for ornaments like a bird’s wing to oscillate along while the wearer is moving.

It can be a challenge to judge customer’s knowledge on art jewelry. The majority of it depends on the location of where her work was exposed. Previously, she also exhibited at ATTA Gallery near the five-star Mandarin Oriental Hotel, where a lot of the viewers expressed keen interests. While there are many independent jewelry designers in Thailand, there is also a potential to combine the interests of art and jewelry together. Nimmawadee hopes to bring in her newly developed ideas of art jewelry to attract art and jewelry lovers.
